Staff Development Specialist

Position Description
The Arc of Rensselaer County is a non-profit agency supporting individuals with disabilities and their families throughout Rensselaer County. We are currently looking for a Staff Development Specialist to join our HR Team. This position will serve as the primary staff trainer for our agency.

This role designs, implements and conducts our agency wide training program which reflects mandatory and program specific training requirements under the supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This position analyzes the agency’s training needs and develops new programs and/or modify existing programs to meet staff development needs. This includes developing training procedures based on knowledge of different training methods including: individual training, classroom training, demonstrations, in-job training, meetings, conferences, and related workshops. The Staff Development Specialist ensures compliance with State, Federal and agency training requirements with focus on the agency's strategic direction and value set. This position specifically will be responsible for training and instruction in: Incident Reporting, Prevention of Abuse and Neglect, Corporate Compliance, First Aid/CPR/AED, Strategies for Crisis Intervention & Prevention (SCIP), Blood Borne Pathogens, Agency-Wide Orientation, and other subjects as necessary. 

Salary: Mid-$30k's per year DOE

Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in education, nursing, human services or related field and 1 year of experience or an Associate’s degree and 3 years of experience in a related field.  Experience conducting individual and group learning events. Proficiency in word processing, power point and data base management. This role must be available evenings (as necessary) during the week and on some pre-scheduled weekends (as necessary) to train staff who work non-traditional hours.Valid NYS driver’s license required. This position requires ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds and must obtain certification to teach SCIP and American Red Cross First Aid and CPR if employed by the agency.
